Privacy policy
What personal data we collect, why we hold it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it, under the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who is responsible for your data
IPTV Ireland, operating this website at iptv-ir.com, is the data controller for the personal data described on this page. That means we decide why and how it is used, and we are accountable for it.
For anything to do with your personal data, write to [email protected] and put "data protection" in the subject line so it is routed correctly.
What we collect
We deliberately collect very little. There is no account area on this website, no newsletter sign-up and no advertising profile being built about you.
When you contact us
- Your name and email address, or your WhatsApp number if you message us there.
- The content of your message, including anything you choose to tell us about your setup.
- The device details you send us, such as a television model or a set-top box MAC address.
When you buy a subscription
- A record of the term purchased, the amount, and the dates it runs between.
- The contact address we use to send your login details and support messages.
We never hold your card details. Payments are handled by a payment provider, and card numbers do not pass through us or get stored by us at any point.
When you browse this website
Standard server logs, which include an IP address and a browser identifier, are created automatically as part of serving any website. They are used for security and for keeping the site running, not for profiling you.
Why we hold it, and our legal basis
- To answer your enquiry. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to people who write to us.
- To supply the subscription you bought. Legal basis: performance of a contract with you.
- To keep records of sales and refunds. Legal basis: compliance with our legal obligations, including tax and accounting requirements.
- To keep the website secure. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in preventing abuse and attacks.
Who else sees it
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for marketing. It is seen only by the people who need it to run the service, and by the providers we depend on to operate:
- Our website and email hosting providers, who store the data on our instructions.
- Our payment provider, who processes the transaction and holds the payment details we never see.
- WhatsApp, if you choose to contact us that way, under their own terms and privacy policy.
Where a provider is located outside the European Economic Area, we rely on the safeguards permitted under the GDPR for that transfer. Details are available on request.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a purchase: kept while the conversation is active, then deleted.
- Support conversations with customers: kept for the duration of your subscription and a reasonable period afterwards, so that we have context if you come back.
- Sales and refund records: kept for as long as tax and accounting law in Ireland requires.
- Server logs: kept for a short period and then overwritten.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal data we hold about you, and give you a copy of it.
- Correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
- Delete data we no longer have a good reason to keep.
- Restrict or object to how we use it in certain circumstances.
- Receive the data you gave us in a portable format.
Write to us and we will respond within one month. There is no charge for a normal request, and we will not make it difficult.
How it is protected
The website is served over an encrypted connection, access to customer records is limited to the people who need it, and we hold as little as possible in the first place. The strongest protection we can offer is not collecting data we do not need.
We will never ask you for a password, a PIN or full card details by message or email. If you receive such a request claiming to be from us, it is not from us, and we would like to know about it.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, tell us first so we have a chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, the supervisory authority for data protection in Ireland.
Making a complaint to us does not affect your right to go to the Data Protection Commission at any point.
This policy is written in plain English rather than legal language, on purpose. Sections marked for completion should be finalised with a solicitor before launch.
